Made in USA Knives

Upgrade your everyday food preparation with this 8 Inch 9Cr18MoV Japanese Chef Knife, designed with a distinctive hammered blade, 3-layer clad steel construction, and an elegant African rosewood handle.

Inspired by the versatile Japanese Gyuto profile, this professional-style kitchen knife is made for slicing, dicing, mincing, and preparing meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, herbs, and other everyday ingredients.

With a blade hardness of approximately 60±2 HRC, a slim approximately 2.0 mm blade, and a hand-polished cutting edge, it combines precision cutting performance with a striking Japanese-inspired appearance.

3-Layer 9Cr18MoV Clad Steel Blade

The centerpiece of this Japanese-style chef knife is its 3-layer 9Cr18MoV clad steel blade. 9Cr18MoV is a high-carbon stainless alloy commonly used in quality cutlery because it offers a useful combination of hardness, wear resistance, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.

The blade is specified at approximately 60±2 HRC, allowing it to support a fine cutting edge while remaining practical for normal kitchen preparation.

Its polished cutting section contrasts beautifully with the dark upper blade, creating a chef knife that is functional enough for everyday cooking while distinctive enough to stand out in a premium knife collection.

Distinctive Hammered Blade Finish

A dramatic hammered texture covers the upper portion of the blade, giving this knife its characteristic Japanese-inspired appearance.

The irregular hammered pattern adds visual depth and character to the blade while distinguishing it from ordinary smooth-finished kitchen knives.

Combined with the polished lower blade and fine cutting edge, the hammered finish creates a sophisticated balance between traditional styling and modern kitchen performance.

Versatile Gyuto Knife for Meat, Fish & Vegetables

The Japanese Gyuto chef knife is valued for versatility. Rather than being designed for just one ingredient, its long cutting edge and pointed profile allow it to handle many everyday kitchen tasks.

This 8-inch chef knife is suitable for:

  • Slicing boneless beef and other meats
  • Preparing salmon and other fish
  • Cutting and dicing vegetables
  • Slicing fruit
  • Chopping fresh herbs
  • Mincing garlic and aromatics
  • Portioning meat and fish
  • General everyday food preparation

Its approximately 8-inch blade provides enough cutting length for larger ingredients while remaining maneuverable enough for controlled everyday preparation.

Hand-Polished V-Shaped Cutting Edge

The knife features a hand-polished V-shaped edge designed for smooth and controlled cutting.

Fine edge geometry helps the blade move through ingredients with less unnecessary resistance, making it particularly useful for clean slices through vegetables, boneless meat, and fish.

For long-term performance, sharpen the knife using a whetstone or another sharpening system suitable for fine kitchen knives.

Ergonomic African Rosewood Handle

The blade is paired with a beautiful African rosewood handle that gives the knife a warm, natural appearance.

Its faceted Japanese-inspired shape is designed to provide a secure and controlled grip while keeping the overall knife clean, simple, and elegant.

The handle measures approximately 14.5 cm / 5.71 inches, providing generous gripping space for everyday food preparation.

Because rosewood is a natural material, variations in wood grain, tone, and pattern can make each handle visually unique.

Lightweight & Comfortable Kitchen Performance

At approximately 100 g / 0.22 lb, the knife maintains a lightweight profile that allows precise and responsive movement during food preparation.

A lighter Japanese-style knife can be particularly comfortable during repetitive slicing and chopping because the user can guide the blade rather than relying primarily on its weight.

2.0 mm Blade for Precise Cutting

The blade measures approximately 2.0 mm / 0.08 inch thick, helping provide a streamlined cutting profile.

Rather than functioning as a heavy cleaver, this chef knife is intended for controlled slicing, chopping, dicing, and precision food preparation.

This makes it particularly suitable for vegetables, fruit, boneless meats, fish, and other common ingredients.

Knife Care & Maintenance

Proper care will help preserve both the cutting performance and appearance of your 9Cr18MoV chef knife.

  • Hand wash after each use.
  • Dry the blade and handle thoroughly immediately after washing.
  • Do not leave the knife soaking in water.
  • Do not place the knife in a dishwasher.
  • Use a wood or suitable synthetic cutting board.
  • Avoid glass, ceramic, stone, and other very hard cutting surfaces.
  • Use an appropriate whetstone or fine-edge sharpening system when required.
  • Store in a knife block, sheath, magnetic knife holder, or other protective storage.

Important Usage Information

This is a precision chef knife intended for normal food preparation. It is not a cleaver.

Do not use the knife to chop bones, frozen foods, shells, or other extremely hard materials. Avoid twisting or prying with the blade, as these actions can damage a fine kitchen cutting edge.

A Striking Japanese-Style Chef Knife for Everyday Cooking

Combining a 3-layer 9Cr18MoV clad steel blade, approximately 60±2 HRC hardness, a distinctive hammered finish, hand-polished V-shaped edge, and natural African rosewood handle, this chef knife offers an attractive balance of kitchen performance and Japanese-inspired design.

If you're searching for an 8 inch Japanese chef knife, 9Cr18MoV chef knife, Japanese Gyuto knife, hammered kitchen knife, rosewood handle chef knife, or professional chef knife, this versatile design makes an excellent addition to your kitchen.
